"Upgrading to Viewlogic 7.4 and Designer R2-1998"

Updating from WVOffice 7.31 and Designer 3.1.1u1 to WVOffice 7.4 and Designer R2-98 on a PC

1) Install WVOffice 7.4 software.

2) Download WVOffice 7.4 patch edfupdt3.exe, which (as of 8/5/98) can be found on Viewlogic's web site at:

http://www.viewlogic.com/support/wvo/patches/74patch.html

3) Install WVOffice patch per the Readme file that accompanies the patch.

4) Install Designer R2-98 software.

5) For new users who will not need to look at existing designs: copy %ALSDIR%\lib\wv\libs.lst to %WDIR%\standard\libs.lst.

6) For all other users: copy %ALSDIR%\lib\wv\migrate.lst to %WDIR%\standard\libs.lst (note file name change).

7) For all existing projects, go into the WVOffice Project Manager and re-specify the libraries, as the library search paths have changed.

8) When exporting Viewlogic information in ACTgen or when translating EDIF netlists to Viewlogic wir files, you may see multiple warnings similar to the one below:

<<<WARNING>>> - Find symbol 'ACT3:AX1B' without using library alias

These warnings may be ignored.

9) If, while using ACTgen, you get the message:

Unable to open symbol template ACTGEN:sym/<symbol_name>.1

then you need to go into the WVOffice Project Manager to re-specify your libraries for the project.

10) See also any notes in Actel's Guru Automated Tech Support system, located at Actel's web site: www.actel.com. Select Guru, search for "third party" and then select "Viewlogic". Click on the exclamation point (!) for more information.

A special thanks to Anita Jeong of Actel Corp. for this application note.
