The models defined here describe the essential objects and the semantics of VHDL'87 and VHDL'93 at the description, analysis, elaboration and simulation levels of design. They are not implementation information models for a VHDL simulator nor for a VHDL checker; they can, however, provide the basis for the creation of such
implementation oriented information models.
